My name is Debbie Eldemire and I am the owner of The Pottery Place
The Pottery Place is proudly Australian and began its journey 36 years ago in the suburb of Edge Hill in Cairns as a small supply business for potters by potters
Since its beginning in 1974, The Pottery Place has seen about 7 different owners and different locations each with its own unique flavour. At times there have been galleries and production pottery, and at other times, it rather focused on supplying raw materials, tools and equipment to the local art’s industry
Each and every owner over the span of 36 years has added to The Pottery Place and made it the unique and interesting one stop shop that it is today
I purchased The Pottery Place in 2001 after completing my studies in pottery through James Cook University in Cairns and Tropical North Queensland Tafe College. In 2005, I made the decision to restructure the business and moved everything to my 200 acre property on the Walsh River in Dimbulah, North Queensland
Since, The Pottery Place does not only supply equipment such as, kilns and wheels, tools and raw materials in the Shop, it also organises regular in house Workshop-weekends. Handbuilding, Raku Firing, Sculpture and Glass Casting are some of the techniques offered.

The Pottery Place also offers secondhand equipment including kilns and pottery wheels. In addition, we supply everything you may need to build, repair or service kilns or wheels
All are in The Shop, but please feel free to Contact me to discuss your individual needs
Between workshops, I often travel to teach, so please visit my Workshop, which showcases the amazing works of my students from Normanton, Mornington Island and Bamaga
Should your own creative juices start to flow, The Pottery Place can set you up with everything you need to go and create your own masterpiece with 42 different clays, pottery supplies, clay pottery classes, kilns, oxides, firebricks, glazes, raw materials & pottery wheels.
Every 2 years, I also go back to my ancestral home in the Cayman Islands, West Indies, and I conduct pottery workshops overseas.
A photography Lover, I could not help putting a Gallery to display the photographs that I have taken during my travels. Yes I love Beauty where Nature and Mind merge into something truly amazing.
Again, welcome to The Pottery Place
Have a good time !
